In the state capital of Thuringia, the more than 1200-year history can still be experienced. The most famous landmarks are the St. Marien Cathedral and Severikirche as well as the Krämerbücke. With a length of 120 m and 32 houses, it is the longest inhabited bridge road in Europe, inviting you to stroll through its small shops.

Erfurt has always attracted great personalities such as Luther, Goethe, Schiller, Bach and Liszt as Thuringia’s economic, intellectual, cultural and political centre. The city with its numerous small alleyways offers a wide range of activities for art lovers, connoisseurs and cultural experts.

How to get to ThEX

The ThEx (Gustav-Freytag-Straße 1) is within walking distance of the railway station and can be reached from there within 15 to 20 minutes. By tram (line 1, direction Thüringenhalle, station Landtag/Stadion Nord) the ThEx can be reached from the city centre within 30 minutes. Erfurt’s tram network was awarded the European Local Transport Prize and ensures good transport connections throughout the entire core area thanks to its high frequency.

How to get to Erfurt

Erfurt is very well connected due to its location in the centre of Germany. The train station is centrally located between the ThEx and the city’s most popular hotels. Fast ICE connections guarantee a fast journey from all over Germany. Within the city, all important destinations can be reached by tram.

By Car:
The motorways A 4 and A 71 intersect directly at the gates of the city and together with the bypass form the “Erfurter Ring”. The city centre can be reached quickly from any direction via 12 junctions. Erfurt can be reached from Leipzig in 1 1/2 hours, Berlin and Frankfurt in 3 hours and from Munich in 4 hours.

Please orient yourself in Erfurt in the direction of Landtag/Steigerwaldstadion. The ThEx is located in the building of the IHK Erfurt exactly opposite the Thüringer Landtag. The IHK area around the ThEx building has no free parking spaces. Please use the parking garage ‘Am Stadion’ in Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Straße, which is about 300 m away.

By Train:
With the expansion of the high-speed lines from Berlin to Munich and from Frankfurt to Dresden, the ICE railway station in Erfurt is one of the most important transport hubs in Germany.

The city can be reached from Leipzig in 45 minutes, Dresden, Frankfurt am Main, Berlin and Munich are all about 2 hours away by train.

Tram line 1 in the direction of Thüringenhalle reaches the Landtag/IHK stop from Erfurt main station in about 5 minutes, directly in front of the IHK main building. The IHK and the ThEx building can be reached on foot from Erfurt main station in about 15 minutes.
